Person of Interest
"The Crossing"
Episode 3.09 - Nov. 19, 2013
Lee Tergesen plays Detective William Petersen in this pivotal
episode of the inventive CBS crime drama, "Person of Interest."
The series revolves around a former CIA agent, John Reese
(played by Jim Caviezel), who is recruited by mysterious
billionaire/software genius Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) to
prevent violent crimes in New York City. Also on their side are
Detective Jocelyn "Joss" Carter (Taraji P. Henson) and Detective
Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman).
In this episode, the Person of Interest team is pitted against
members of the HR, a group of corrupt police officers working with
an up-and-coming mob boss to control organized crime in New York.
The main action surrounds Reese and Carter attempting to escort a
wounded Alonzo Quinn -- the mayor's chief of staff and the head of
HR -- to FBI custody. They are attacked by thugs and corrupt cops at
every turn.
Among the corrupt cops is Quinn's right-hand man, Officer Patrick
Simmons, a uniformed officer who handles HR activities on the street
level. He is played by Robert John Burke, who played FBI Special
Agent Pierce Taylor in "Oz."
This time he and Lee's character are on the same side. Lee appears in scenes in which the
HR people are involved in trying to
torture information out of Detective Fusco.
Lee's role is brutal and
fairly brief.
The episode is the second in a
three-part story arc, but especially pivotal because it marks the death of
one of the series' primary characters -- a shocking turn of events to
regular viewers of the show.
